![]() It was around chapter 6 after being introduced to the underground network of surveillance run by the Florist and his homeless pals out of the park, that I found myself slowing down with the story. She was raised in Sunflower orphanage, the very same orphanage where Kiryu, Nishki and Yumi were raised. She is in search for her mother, Mizuki, whom we find out is Yumi's sister. In his search to find out the truth after the attempted assassination of Kazama san, our father like mentor, during Chairman Sera's funeral, Kiryu encounter a young girl, Haruka. ![]() I was breezing through the early chapters as I tried to make sense of what was happening. The plot is intriguing and the game features a strong start. There are moves being made by the Shimano family, esp., when 10 billion yen goes missing and the chairman of the Tojo Clan, Sera is assassinated. Yumi is not to be found and Nishkiyama is the patriarch of his own family, but seems to be notorious for some reason. Thrust into a world 10 years later, we do find that the dynamics have changed. From being in the shoes of the sane, stoic Majima in Yakuza Zero, this crazy avatar seems alien at first, but you can see his pure character as you find him determined to have a fair fight with Kiryu. However, believing that he did do it, we find that Majima is helpful enough to bring us back to form.Įvery encounter with him proves eventful and does not seem like a chore and I actively found myself seeking a fight with him. The game uses this as an opportunity to reduce Kiryu's health and heat bar drastically, though I can never imagine a universe, where Kiryu would slack and not maintain his body. Majimaīeing in jail for 10 years has made us rusty. Taking the blame for the murder, Kiryu is incarcerated for 10 years and when he gets out of jail, he finds that everything has changed. We are reacquainted with Nishkiyama and Reina, whom we have seen in Yakuza Zero, in the Serena bar and Kiryu's love, Yumi However, Kiryu's life is thrown into the fritz when he finds his brother, Nishkiyama, has killed the Dojima family boss, witnessed by Yumi. We are introduced to Kiryu, who has now garnered a reputation and is soon to start his own family in the yakuza. I was excited to start playing the game and discover the events that would happen in 1995 and further in 2005 and the subsequent changes in the yakuza. Just follow the on-screen commands, and you'll be good.At the end of Yakuza Zero, the events of Yakuza Kiwami were hinted at. The game will tell you exactly what to do here to teach you the controls of fighting, so we won't go over the exact same information. Still, Hirata fears for his life, grabs a golf club, and readies a fight. Kazuma expresses surprise, although Shinji assures Hirata that death isn't the usual MO of his family. He and his associates are getting ready to jump town, and Hirata begs for us not to kill him. The men bust in on the office of Hirata, the president of Peace Finance, the man who owes the money. You'll come across the enemy's office in short order. Keep close, as he'll talk to you a couple times. Just follow Shinji as he heads down the street. It's time to take it out of their asses.Īlthough you're presented with a radar on the main screen, you don't have to worry about it. It's no small sum either: 200 million yen, and Kazuma (and his buddy) will get half. A loan shark apparently borrowed money from different Yakuza families, but haven't paid a yen back yet. Kazuma and Shinji chat about the mission that will serve as your tutorial. Both men are associated with the Dojima family, one of several of the Yakuza. He is Kazuma Kiryu, and he is helping an associate named Shinji Tanaka to collect a debt from someone. It's now the previous day, and the man in the grey suit is named. Moments later, the cops run in and bust him. He takes a ring with the name "Yumi" on it. In a hotel room somewhere else, a man in a gray suit stands over stands over a corpse. That is, until we get to an alley, where some members of the Yakuza are beating up some guy for protection money. Story IntroĪ street-level fly-by of a Japanese city shows people in the rainy streets minding their own business. It should go without saying, but the walkthrough has tons of spoilers, as we'll analyze the story as well as the gameplay.
